Day trip by bike
Head to the Asterix village by bike during your stay at the Best Western Le Duguesclin
Why not take advantage of your stay in our hotel in Saint-Brieuc to discover Erquy, the village that inspired Albert Uderzi to create the famous village of Gallic diehards in his Asterix comic strip?
Known as the first scallop fishing port, the town of Erquy is not lacking in charm. Thanks to the Vélomaritime, link the two towns by bike for a day's escapade in the heart of the Breton countryside and along the coast.
Once you leave the city centre of Saint-Brieuc, your itinerary begins with the city's marina and a stroll along the quays along the river Gouët.
You will cross the Douvenant Viaduct at Cesson: an arched viaduct classified as a historical monument and the Vau-Hervé Viaduct, an arch bridge used by the railways at the time, both built at the beginning of the 20th century.
You will then follow the coast for a few kilometres before arriving in Hillion. You will then pass by the ornithological observatory on the Pointe d'Illemont: a small haven of peace in the heart of nature to observe the various birds present, such as the kingfisher.
Your route will then take you from village to village until you reach Erquy. Once there, you will be able to discover its main attractions:
- its fine sandy beaches
- its old cannonball oven
- the cape of Erquy and its splendid view
- its fishing port
