What to do in Saint-Brieuc for a weekend?

Are you dreaming of a weekend combining cultural discoveries, historical walks and relaxation in the heart of nature? Welcome to Saint-Brieuc! The capital of Côtes-d’Armor has some great surprises in store for you. Here is a small selection of the emblematic places not to be missed…

Book one of the rooms at our Best Western Le Duguesclin hotel, located in the heart of the pedestrian district of Saint-Brieuc, to make the most of your weekend.

Discovering the historical heritage of Saint-Brieuc

Saint-Étienne Cathedral

Start your weekend with a visit to the Gothic Saint-Étienne Cathedral: it is one of the rare fortified churches in Brittany, but also one of the stops on the Breton pilgrimage Tro Breizh.

You can admire the Marie Tower, the rocaille-style altarpiece, its large Cavaillé-Coll organ and the neo-Gothic decorations of the axial chapel.

Stroll through the historic center of Saint-Brieuc

The heart of the city of Saint-Brieuc is a distillation of history: a medieval district with half-timbered houses, neoclassical or Art Deco architecture, etc.

Don't forget to pass by the Maison de Ribault, one of the oldest in the city (it dates from the 15th century), the Hôtel des Ducs de Bretagne and the Hôtel des Postes.

The chapel of the Maison Saint-Yves

It is just a stone's throw from the city center, on the heights of the Gouédic valley, that you can admire this Art Deco gem, decorated with colorful mosaics and frescoes.

The landscaped garden, graphic and sober, the library, the cloister and the crypt decorated with a huge fresco are also worth a visit.

Nature walk in Saint-Brieuc

The Rohannec’h villa estate

This Italian-inspired villa – with a breathtaking view of the bay of Saint-Brieuc and the Cesson tower – has been transformed into a house-studio to accommodate artists in residence.

Take the paths of its English-style park with its giant sequoias, blue cedars and Monterey pines to go down to the picturesque port of Légué.

The Valais beach

Very close to the port, you can admire the bay of Saint-Brieuc from another angle from the Valais beach. The place is famous for its colorful cabins - the Cité baby - nestled on the cliff.

Part of the beach is located in the nature reserve, a walk during which you will see the Pointe du Grouin.

After this iodized getaway, you will appreciate the local cuisine of the restaurant La Taverne du Best Westerne le Duguesclin!
